Instituto de Patologia Tropical e Saúde Pública – Universidade Federal de Goiás, Goiânia, Goiás, Brasil. The study objective was to evaluate the prognostic factors in patients with breast cancer in the Hospital Araújo Jorge of the Association to Combat Cancer in Goiás. 82 medical records were selected from patients treated in 2006 and 2007. Data were collected from medical records, the survival curves were generated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared by the Log-rank test. The clinical and histopathological variables analyzed were tumor size, lymph number nodes involved, distant metastasis presence, hormonal receptors staging and expression (Negative Triple and Non-Triple Negative) associated with five-year survival. The overall survival rate was 73.1%. Patients with tumors T1 and T2 had survival of 83.6%, and patients with T3 and T4 tumors 57.5% (p <0.008). In relation to lymph node involvement, patients who did not present a compromised survival had a survival rate of 87.5%, compared to those with lymph node involvement with survival of 64.0% (p <0.01). Regarding the distant metastases development, the values were significant among patients with metastatic tumors of 54.5%, and patients with non-metastatic tumors of 85.7% (p <0.001). Staging patients I and II presented survival of 86.1% and patients of stage III and IV presented survival 63.0% (p <0.02). Patients with Negative Triple Tumors had a five-year survival of 58.8%, and patients with Non-Triple Negative tumors presented survival of 83.3% (p <0.01). The results confirm the prognostic impact factors in the survival evaluation in patients with breast carcinoma.Breast Cancer, Prognostic Factors, Survival.
