DOES ONCOPLASTIC BREAST SURGERY CAUSE A DELAY IN THE ONSET OF ADJUVANTE TREATMENT? A EXPERIENCE OF UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN SÃO PAULO

Irmandade Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São PauloAims: Although the standard breast conservative surgery(sBCS) has provided undeniable advances in the treatment of breast cancer it’s already know that in some cases there’s not a satisfaction with breast image. With the advent of oncoplastic breast conservation surgery(oBCS), the possibility to have a satisfatory estetic results is higher. The aim of that study is to compare complications betweem both techinique and if could cause any delay in adjuvante treatment.Method: A retrospective study was carried out with data from patients records who had oBCS and sBCS, operated at Santa Casa de Misericórdia Hospital of São Paulo from 2007 to 2012Results: As a imediated complications we observe that in oBCS had more cases of hematomata, dehiscence and necroses, but that diference was significant just for dehiscence sBCS:3,5% ando BCS:15,5% ( p:0,001). The patients who underwent sBCS (median 58,54) were older then oBCS (median(51,86); the comorbidity( hiperthension, diabites) and smoker were even and did not influence the rate of complications. There were no difference between the groups with those variables. The rate of delay in adjuvante treatment were low, in a total of 267 patients, nine(5,3%) and seven (7,3%), SBCS and oBCS, respectively, without statistical significance.The difference in delay to deliver adjuvant treatment did not influence in overrall survival and disease free survival.breast cancer.
