“Objective: Assess the possibile association between breast implants and anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Methodology: literature review based on a search for articles in English, French and Portuguese, digitally published between the years 2010 and 2016. The key words were “”breast cancer”” and “”mammary implants””. Results: Have been assessed 60 cases of ALCL in patients that own breast implants between 2010 and 2016. Was considered the ALCL possibility when any patient presented symptoms like seroma of late onset on the edge of the implant, capsular contracture or mass next to the breast implant. From the bibliography that was studied was not possible identify whether the breast implant type (silicone or saline) or the reason that it has been placed (reconstruction or aesthetic) had relation with the increase risk to develop ALCL. Although, it is believed that women with breast implants can have a little and raising risk to develop the disease. Conclusion: the ALCL is a rare neoplasm which physiopathology is little known. Due to the insufficient data, the sub diagnosis and the increasing rate of women that put breast implants, is acceptable that does not exist deep knowledge about the risk factors that permit the developing of the disease. It is believed that the ALCL incidence is something like 1-2 for each 100.000 women / year and the diagnosis is established 10 years after the implant surgery (an average). Symptoms like capsular contracture, acyclic pains and relapsing seroma should be managed with removal of the implant and it’s capsule, followed by a biopsy of the tissue on the edge of the implant. So, after that, it’s crucial a follow up with a hematologist and with a plastic surgeon if the ALCL is detected. The treatment and the prognosis of the last one are unclear yet. So new long term studies should be performed to guide better the physicians to conduct ALCL cases.Key words: Breast cancer, mammary implants, Anaplastic large cell lymphoma”
