Rede Goiana de Pesquisa em Mastologia – Programa de Mastologia – HC/UFGTo compare three methods of evaluating the aesthetic results of reconstructive breast surgeries, with respect to their reproducibility and according to the type of evaluator.Photos of 270 patients with breast cancer submitted to surgical treatment were included. A plastic surgeon and a resident in plastic surgery, two mastologists and two residents in mastology, and two psychologists performed the evaluation. The modified Garbay scale, the Harvard scale, a score of 0-10 given by the patient for beauty and for symmetry and an objective BCCT.core score were used. The Kappa index of interobserver agreement and Spearman correlation index were calculated. The mean age of the patients was 55.7 years (± 11.1). Regarding surgery, 145 (53.7%) women underwent conservative treatments with oncoplastic surgery and 125 (46.3%) underwent mastectomy and total reconstruction. Immediate reconstruction was performed in 242 (90.0%) patients and a simetrization of the contralateral breast in 132 (48.9%) patients. The mean follow-up time was 63.7 (+45.6) months. For the Harvard scale, there was a reasonable interobserver reproducibility for different professionals and for the Garbay scale the reproducibility was poor. Overall, the grade given by the BCCT.core program correlated moderately with the Harvard scale and the modified Garbay scale. The modified Garbay scale and the Harvard scale correlate moderately with the objective test (BCCT.core). The Harvard scale has less interobserver variability because it has fewer categories. There may be some differences in ratings among evaluators and methods of evaluation, but all of them correlate equally well to the objective test.Breast cancer surgery, Reconstrução mamária
