OBJECTIVE: The present study has as its focus a deeper geospacial analysis of this mammographic access in Goias with reference to the many regional health centers. METHODS: All of the health centers were studied with regard to the availability and use of mammography in 2014. For the collection of geographic coordinates of all the places where the mammographic apparatuses existed and were used, the Global Positioning System (GPS) was employed. An analysis was made between the availability of this service and the population of the same area compared to the number indicated by the Ministry of Health: 0.42% for every one hundred thousand habitants. For considering the availability of access of the service, the distance of 60 km between the home of the candidate and the place of the equipment was the norm. RESULTS: The number of equipments in use was 152. It was certified that 18 Regions of Health possessed this equipment and they were distributed in 43 (17.5%) municipalities, 68 of these equipments (44.7%) were in Goiania, the capital. The relationship of offering of this service to 100 thousand in habitants was 2.3% for the state, while in the various Regions of Health varied from 1.11 (Entorno Sul) to 4.38 (Nordeste). Considering the greatest distance established to the limit of availability and looking at the great extension of the state, it can be verified that important portions of seven regional health areas are beyond the scope of availability to these services. CONCLUSION: The offer of mammography to habitants is greater than that which is indicated by the Ministry of Health in all the Regions of Health, it is also undeniable that the habitants of wealthy municipals benefit more than habitants of the poorer municipals where the population is more dispersed.
