Objectives: To quantify the histologic features of biopsy findings of malignant breast lesions in Brazil from 2010 to 2014. Methodology: This is a quantitative study, population-based, with cross-sectional design. The data were of secondary origin, extracted from SIH/SUS, between the years of 2010 and 2014. Results: Between 2010 and 2014, were realized 125908 histopathological breast exams in Brazil, most of them being in the Southeast region (64%), followed by Northeast (19,8%), specially in the year 2012 (21,7%), finding 40,4% of malignant breast lesions, comparing to benignant lesions. The occurrence of malignant neoplasia has evolved over the ages, with a peak between the age groups of 50 and 54 years old (13,9%) and above 70 years (17,2%), most of them being palpable on clinical examination (55,5%) and classified as infiltrative ductal carcinoma (57,5%), followed by invasive lobular carcinoma (4,4%). Conclusion: This study allowed us to detect a higher predominance of malignant tumor compared to benign neoplasms, mainly in the Southeast region and among women above 70 years. Besides, there’s a predominance of infiltrative ductal carcinoma in relation to other types of lesions, most of them detected on clinical examination, suggestive of worse prognosis and reaffirming the importance of tracking and early diagnosis of breast pathologies.
