“Objective: Quantify the number (nº) of mammography (MMG) realized in Goias and analyze if there is association between the age group and the radiological classification of BI-RADS. Methods: Transversal study with the nº of realized MMG and BI-RADS classification of Goias present in the Computer Department of the Health Unic System between the period of January/2010 to December/2013. Was used the chi-squared test (X²) and the Odds Ratio (OR) calculation to verify the association between the age group and BI-RADS classification. Results: In the period of Jan/2010 to Dec/2013 was realized 205.131 MMG. The BI-RADS 1 (normal exam) prevailed (51,69%), instead of BI-RADS 6 (evidence of malignancy) with 0,05%. In the analysis of the age group in relation of the BI-RADS prevail the age of 40-49 years in the BI-RADS 1,2 (benign) and 3 (probably benign), however also prevailed in BI-RADS 4 (suspicion of malignancy), longer the sixth decade there is a higher prevalence of BI-RADS 5 (high malignancy suspicion) and 6, sugesting a bigger chance of suspicious finding and malignant with the increase of age. In the analysis of the possible association of the age ≤29 years to 30-39 years and the BI-RADS 4 and 5 there wasn’t significant difference (p<0,05) between the groups in relation of BI-RADS 1, 2 and 3. But, analyzing the age of ≤49 years and 50-59 years there was a significant difference (p<0,005) compared to BI-RADS 1, 2 and 3. The relative chance of MMG with BI-RADS 4 and 5 in pacientes with 50-59 years is 14% higher (OR=1,14) compared to ≤49. Conclusions: The screening MMG should continue to be realized in >40 years women, mostly 50 to 59 years, since there is a bigger relative chance of suspicious malignancy and to develop into breast cancer.
