UNIVERSIDADE DE BRASÍLIA – UnBTo evaluate and compare the accuracy of breast cancer diagnoses through the combined use of ionic iodinated contrast or non-ionic iodinated contrast in Digital Mammography. Aiming the advancement of technology in medicine through literature review and presenting the adverse reactions of iodine-based contrast, as well as, the benefits in the diagnosis of breast cancer image. The study was carried out in a clinic and diagnostic for imaging laboratory in Brasília-DF. Twelve examinations of breast cancer patients were studied, thus, the research methodology was applied through descriptive statistics techniques. Firstly, it sought the data offered by public health agencies in Brazil and worldwide. These data were compared with some diagnoses and scientific articles, health research plans. Finally, we sought to understand the technical terms in medical journals and articles on technology and radiology, we conducted a review of twenty scientific articles, two books and two health research plans on cancer in Brazil. For the calculation and interpretation of the collected data, the methods of inferential statistics were used. Non-ionic iodinated contrast has proven efficacy, since it does not have osmolarity and its adverse reactions are considered almost null or rare, varying from 2% to 4%. Through the mammary anatomy, it is possible to verify the lesions due to the differences in the density of the mammary tissues through the application of non-iodinated intravenous contrast, in addition, the image diagnosis is proven by the quality, when contrasted, outlining the contour of the lesions or fabric of lesions denser. Technological advancement is a key factor in the diagnosis by imaging with the combined use of non – ionic iodine based contrast agents. We consider that the risk involved in the use of nonionic iodinated contrast is irrelevant compared to the severity of the incidence of breast cancer in Brazil. Access to diagnosis is one of the morbidity and mortality factors of cancer patients in the country. Access to diagnosis is one of the morbidity and mortality factors of cancer patients in the country. Compared to magnetic resonance imaging, mammography with the use of non-ionic of iodine base (I = 53) contrast is to 50% less expensive.breast cancer, Digital Mammography, Iodinated Ion Contrast, Ionized.
