ANALYSIS OF THE FREQUENCY OF MAMMOGRAPHY FOR THE SCREENING AND DIAGNOSIS OF BREAST DISORDERS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF GOIÂNIA (GO), BRAZIL, 2010-2013

Federal University of GoiásTo evaluate the frequency of screening examinations and diagnosis in mammography report and their relationship from 2010 to 2013 in the municipality of Goiânia, GO, Brazil. To analyze the frequency of examinations for screening and diagnosis of registered breast changes per year by clinical recommendation, in the municipality of Goiânia, the data was collected from the Breast Cancer Management Information System (SISMAMA). Percentages were calculated for each examination per year with a qualitative analysis. The SM ( screening mammography) was the one with higher prevalence on the period (98,1%, n= 119.446), the year of 2012 was the one with larger number os applications (n= 32.295). There was a proporcional increase between the years of 2011 and 2012. The DM (diagnostic mammography) presented a growth of 159% and SM a decrease of 12%. The relationship between screening and diagnostic mammograms can be related to the effectiveness of prevention campaigns and the awareness of early screening, especially in women over 40 years old, when there is an advantage in performing the procedure.breast cancer, Epidemiology, mammography
