“Methodology: Literature review base on Brazilian data, looking for articles in Englih and Portugueses, between the years 2005 and 2015, that has the social and demographic profile of the woman who performs mammography in Brazil. Objective: To analyze and to define which factors facilitate or hinder access to mammography in Brazil and Goiânia. Results: The predominant age range is 50-69 years. It is indicated as an examination of motivation screening of breast cancer . The prevalence in the exam is given more for patients who have health insurance than the patients who depend on the Unified Health System ( SUS) , as well as those with high in enrollment index and family income. It was presented low percentage of women who underwent mammography at an earlier time that participated in the interview. As supporting two factors were more frequent being: the absence of the examination request for medical application as opposed to women who claimed to be unnecessary the examination , even by prescription. Conclusion: This literature review aimed to analyses the profile of women undergoing mammography. Socioeconomic, demographic and behavioral variables had an important influence on the coverage of mammographic images. There has been a recent increase in its realization especially in women 50-69 years age range recommended by the screening policy of breast cancer . There were also increases in other groups: 40-49 years , associated with the breast cancer screening; 70 years or more , associating to other causes, such as the monitoring of injuries ; and below 40 years, and beneficial in the screening of risk groups , but a waste of money in low- risk.Key words: Women profile, mammography, socioeconomic, demographic”
